Name: Desiree Bernardini
- What do you do for a living?
I am the assistant administrator for a memory care assisted living facility called Beehive Homes of Lehi and I am going to school for nursing at UVU.
- Tell us your story of how you came to do CrossFit and how long have you been doing it (at 1976 and/or others)?
Well I started because my fiancé Darin started coming and loved it so much he told me I had to try it out because he thought I’d love it as well. Well needless to say he was right, for once! I love the variety of workouts and the people! I have been doing crossfit since the end of May 2016.
- What are some of the successes you’ve experienced?
When I started I would look at some of the other athletes and think to myself I will never be
capable of doing some of these movements but I was wrong and I’m now doing pull-ups, rope climbs, and lifting more weight then I ever expected.
- What are your current goals?
My current goal is increasing my stamina and doing double unders without having to break them up with singles.
- What is your favorite movement/exercise?
My favorite movements are back squats, push press, and snatches.
- What keeps you motivated?
My crossfit people, my children, and knowing that what I do with my body now will effect me later in life and help to keep me motivated. There are days where I am so tired and worn out that I don’t think I can make it but I push myself to go anyway and I always feel very accomplished afterwards.
- What has been your favorite Crossfit Experience so far?
One of my favorite crossfit experiences was doing the remember the wounded competition with my friend Brandy. This was my first crossfit competition and I was scared to death but we got 3rd place!!
- Any tips or advice for a CrossFit 1976 newbie?
Keep coming! Yes, you will be so sore that you don’t think you can keep going but it helps with the soreness, I promise!! DON’T compare yourself to others everyone progresses at a different rate there will be movements that are easy for you and not for someone else and vice versa.
- If you could have a super power what would it be and why?
If I could have one super power it would be flying. First off flying is way to expensive and this would give me more opportunities to visit family that lives outside of Utah.
