Name: Jefferson Goncalves
1. What do you do for a living?
I am currently a full time student. I am finishing my last semester of school to get my Masters of Finance degree from the University of Utah! Go Utes!
2. Tell us your story of how you came to do CrossFit and how long have you been doing it (at 1976 and/or others)?
I have been doing CrossFit for about a year! My brother in law introduced me to 1976 and I loved it. However, I got super busy with school and had to take a break for a couple months. I came back, because going to Vasa just wasn’t cutting it, and I have been coming ever since!
3. What are some of the successes you’ve experienced?
I was able to get my first couple of bar muscle ups a couple months ago, and that was freaking awesome! I have lost about 40lbs since coming, and my cardio has vastly improved! I also completed the Spartan Trifecta in August!
4. What are your current goals?
My current goals are to get double-unders. I have been working on them for about 6 months now and they are EXTREMELY frustrating! I also continue working on getting rope climbs, and I want to get a ring muscle up before the end of the year!
5. What is your favorite movement/exercise?
I love deadlifts, bench press, and wall balls! Weird, I know!
6. What keeps you motivated?
The desire to be better every day, and seeing how far I have come in such a short time! I want to continue living a healthy lifestyle so that I can live to be 100 years old!
7. Any tips or advice for a CrossFit 1976 newbie?
Be consistent! Come in as often as possible, and work on your weaknesses! Most importantly though, have fun!
8. If you could have a super power what would it be and why?
I would love to be able to fly. I think it would help me to get over my fear of heights!
